Acne sucks. Adult acne, sucks even more. After struggling through my acne prone teen years, dealing with it again as an adult is such a confidence killer. I've found seven amazing products that have helped me to treat my acne, while fading my acne scars and managing my dry skin. If you've been searching for clear skin, look no further because I have some super affordable products that could help!
UPDATE: It's now been two months of using this routine and all my acne has cleared up (my scars are lighter too!) I've had no major breakouts since starting this routine and if I do get a pimple it goes away super quick. THIS SHIT WORKS.
1. Cleansing Brush
I was really hesitant to buy a cleansing brush because they can be super expensive, but I found an amazing brush on amazing for around $17. You can find it here. The brush vibrates and I use it to work my cleanser into my skin in little circular motions, this thoroughly cleans your skin of impurities, dirt and leftover makeup while mildly exfoliating the skin. Plus, this has been the only thing to get rid of the pesky blackheads that love my nose.
2. Hydrating Toner
Since I have dry skin, a hydrating toner is a necessity. The Klairs Supple Preparation toner adds moisture back into the skin and prepares the skin to better absorb other products. You can find it here.

3. The Ordinary Niacinamide & Zinc
Niacinimide is amazing for preventing acne, minimizing the appearance of enlarged pores and evening out skin tone. Zinc is a great ingredient to treat acne, and the combination of both makes this product a powerhouse. I've noticed a significant improvement in my pore size and my skin tone since using this, so I couldn't recommend it enough (you can find it here).
4. Salicylic Acid
Salicylic acid is a chemical exfoliant that can deeply penetrate into the skin. I pat this onto active breakouts and onto my acne scars. I use the Ordinary's Salicylic Acid (find it here) which is affordable and effective.
5. Squalane Oil
Squalene is naturally found in skin, and applying it can help to hydrate and prevent loss of hydration in your skin. I press 2 tiny droplets of this into my skin, if you apply too much you'll end up with a super greasy face so just use a little bit and your skin will be glowing, even when you apply makeup. I use the Ordinary's 100% Plant-Derived Squalane oil and you can view it here.
TIP: Always using a patting or pressing motion when applying your skincare products. If you rub them on, you're going to move around all of the products you applied underneath.
6. Water Based Moisturizer
At night, I like to add a moisturizer to my routine for extra hydration. I love water based moisturizer because they're usually a gel consistency and they feel cooling and refreshing when you apply them, plus they absorb super quickly. I'm currently using one from Vichy, link here, but it's a little pricy so I'll probably go back to the Garnier gel cream after I run out, find it here.
7. Hydrating Sleeping Mask
Even if you have oily, acne prone skin hydration is key. If you're dealing with acne scars, remember that hydrated skin looks more even toned and your scars will be less noticeable if your skin is properly hydrated.
Every other night, I swap my moisturizer for the Origins Overnight Mask (shop it here), which deeply moisturizes my skin and I always wake up looking super glowy.

If you're struggling with acne, remember that it will one day get better you just have to focus on treating current breakouts, preventing future ones and hydrating your skin so it looks more even and glowy.
Wishing you the clearest of skin,
